We decided the guest room finally needed a new mattress. The one we had was 10+ years old. Not that it gets used much, but it was time. We started out looking at Sears because we didn't want to go through the typical chain mattress store hassle. We should have bought at Sears.
Next we headed out to Arizona Mattress Overstock based on the glowing Yelp reviews. My partner suggested we give it a shot. The purchase experience was fine, no pushy sales person and just a few closeout and factory seconds to choose from. Wanting to get the purchase over with we chose a Kirkland brand made by Stearns & Foster that seemed like a good deal. That part was okay. I really didn't check the price until we got home and we did save $70 overall rather than buying the mattress directly from Costco.
The delivery is what really put me out. I'm busy, travel frequently and don't have much free time when I am home. We bought on Sunday and scheduled delivery for the following Friday between 12-3. Well 3:00 PM comes and still no mattress, no call, just crickets. I needed to get to an appointment I'd waited weeks for so I called the store. The person I spoke with gave me some lame excuse that they got held up at the warehouse because they were bringing stock to the store. Sorry, but scheduled customer deliveries should come before store re-stocks. I had to arrange for a friend to be at the house to take delivery.
I wouldn't consider them again based on the delivery experience. If you're going to be late have the courtesy to call and say so. Making the customer follow-up is not acceptable.
