Persian Garden is a Phoenix staple - so much so that I forgot about how many vegan options they offer! I've been back for lunch twice in the past few weeks. The cost difference between lunch and dinner is significant, so try to go for a weekday lunch if you are on a budget.
A few weeks ago I had the tofu pita, which was delicious, but very messy and huge! The bread fell apart instantly from the moisture. I took half home and reconstructed it - it was great! This week I had the "Basic one" - lentil soup, rice and salad. Again, more than I could eat, but flavorful. I love both types of rice so much, and the soup was rich and tasty. I expected it to be lighter (more like a dal) but it was very savory. It was a perfect lunch!
I split a small humus with my husband this time. It was surprisingly both bland and garlicky. And the pita/nan was a little to dry for my tastes. It was good with the humus though. I probably wouldn't get it again. My husband got the falafel pita. He liked how many veggies were on it.
My only service complaints: they don't mark the vegan items on the lunch menu (but they are labeled on the online menu), and the server (singular) was crazy busy both times. This week the owner helped her frequently. But, they are so friendly and working very hard that it is easy to be patient with them.
