I was cold called by Ron K trying to get me to trade in the vehicle I purchased from them for a newer model with lower payments. I wanted a different car and he located one matching my requirements and sent me the VIN. I made an appointment to go see the car the following Saturday (three days later).
I arrived Saturday early and didn't see the car. I'd asked to see the car but he informed me it wasn't there yet. We sat down to go over numbers only to find out that he tried to sell us a different car (different options, more money). Ultimately the price was fair so we made a deal.
Two hours go buy before he tells me that he cant get the car because it was sold. After another hour he finds a different car in the wrong color but we make a deal. Luckily I only had to wait 15 minutes to find out they made deal number 2 on another car they couldn't get.
Reluctantly I put a "refundable" deposit for him to find and hold a car for me. I went home that night and found the original car by VIN at a different dealer and verified it was available. Turns out Ron K and Autonation was making deals on cars that other dealers were unwilling to trade.
Having been lied to and three seperate deals fall through I purchased the exact car I originally planned to buy (down to the VIN) from another dealer. I've asked for my "refundable" deposit back and was assured it would be returned. They havent honored my request and I've had to dispute the charge with my credit card company.
