| - While most boutiques here were too expensive to catch my interest, I had to share my discovery of outlet-worthy prices you can find at Marché Bonsecours for Montreal-based brand, 'Mat & Nat'. As a Torontonian, I've been accustomed to seeing Mat & Nat pricing for purses, backpacks, and wallets in the $100 to $200 range at Toronto department stores and other Queen West boutiques. However, note that: on the 2nd floor of Marché Bonsecours, you'll find a Mat & Nat Outlet Store, where prices are 50 to 70% off. The same purses selling for $125 in Toronto and online were $40 here. Wallets were $15 to $25. Backpacks selling for $135 in Toronto and online were $40.00 here. Pretty good deals if you're a Matt & Nat fan.
In terms of the market itself - located in Old Montreal, the architecture in this area is beautiful. So photograph worthy! Marché Bonsecours itself is like a mini indoor psuedo-shopping mall. Think of this place as a high-end market full of boutiques, jewelry stores, trinket shops, souvenir shops. It's full of tourists and some locals and was very, very busy the Saturday afternoon we visited in April 2016. The inside is comprised of narrow hallways full of various shops, and we initially used this place as a washroom stop since we realized it would probably be pretty clean (it was!).
Overall, it wouldn't hurt to explore the building, but most boutiques didn't catch my interest other than the outlet I mentioned above. Not a bad indoor walk if the weather isn't great, but other than that, the architecture and beautiful neighbourhood surrounding it would probably be a more enjoyable stroll.
