I received a coupon in the mail for CRUST--$10 off for $30 spent. I thought that this was a great opportunity to try out a new restaurant.
Upon arrival we had our choice of seating. The place has a very casual style with a few booths and several tables (sans table cloths). Jackie who appears part of management as well as a server approached us about a wine order. We had just sat down and didn't even know what we wanted to drink. We reviewed the wine menu but weren't interested in their offerings. We were asked again but it felt kind of pushy. Jackie seems to have a problem smiling and was not very cordial. We value positive interactions with servers and did not get any here.
We ordered rigatoni with meatballs and chicken marsala with linguini. Both portions were ample and hubby enjoyed his chicken marsala which also came with an over baked crescent roll. The meatballs were average tasting but not too bad. The meat had been overworked during preparation so the meatballs were not tender. The more you work the meat, the harder the meatball turns out. The sauce on the rigatoni had too much oregano for my own taste but that is a subjective matter. I am sure someone would have enjoyed it. I packed the food to go home with the hopes that someone will eat it.
I usually don't worry about environment as long as the food is good. But I am making an exception here. There was a lack of warmth in this establishment perpetuated by the "hardness of the server" (Not the momma-to-be---she was nice). The place is not welcoming so I see it more of a take-out place than a place where you can sit and enjoy meal.
Having a coupon took the sting out of eating here.
This felt like a 2 Star place because the food is just average and the staff doesn't do anything to make you feel good about being there. I am throwing in one extra star for the dark ale beer we enjoyed.
