  • I've always wanted to foster a dog but had my reservations. What if the dog was too loud or needy? Well, I decided to take a risk and contact Kit Kat Rescue in Chandler. Kimberly heads up the organization and depends solely on foster homes to house the pets while they are waiting to be adopted. With some time on my hands this summer, my fiance and I took up a Cairn Terrier mix named Ireland for the weekend and so far it's been great. Ireland and her friends just want a loving home and someone who can care about them. We gave her a bath, fenced off an area of our house and already had a doggie door to let her go outside. She doesn't bark and to be honest is awesome for being a dog that's been in a shelter since she was a puppy. The best thing about fostering is you can take a pet home just on weekends or choose to keep them longer. The only thing Kit Kat asks of you is to bring them to certain Chandler pet stores from 11-4 on weekends so they have a chance to be adopted. Ireland and all the other dogs come with their shots up to date and a small fee of $150-200 which includes a microchip as well. Kimberly will provide you with pet food and just asks that you have a bowl and a toy or two at the ready. I'm not sure about the other dogs but Ireland is already potty trained and six months old! I'm excited to share our home with a dog in need of some lovin' and I want to spread the word. If you or someone you know is interested in adopting a cat or dog, please let me know or contact Kimberly via Kit Kat's website at: http://kitkatrescue.org/index.php. If you can't keep a dog permanently due to your schedule even a week or two in your home would be a blessing to these dogs and cats. You can also check out these adoptable pets at these locations on weekends: CATS: Petsmart: 857 N. Val Vista Dr., Suite 106, Gilbert, AZ 85234 Cats available during store hours.
