| - Took a couple girlfriends out Friday night for their joint birthdays. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe, and service was mostly on point, which counts for a lot in my book! When I say we almost ordered everything on the menu, that's no lie! We were feeling celebratory.
The apps and salads were really nice. The spinach and feta dip, beet salad, and grilled octopus were my faves. Greek salad was also decent. The mac and cheese was ok, but a little dry. Definitely not a creamy mac and cheese. I had one of the specialty cocktails...the fig mule was ok, but was too sweet for my tastes, so didn't enjoy that cocktail. Wine is always a winner :)
For the main course, we ordered brussel sprouts, eggplant, forbidden rice, fingerling potatoes au gratin, 1/2 lb salmon, 1/2 lb lamb, and 1/2 lb pork. Again, the sides were good (forbidden rice was delish!), but the meats were disappointing. Out of the three, the salmon was the table favorite. All meats were seasoned identically, with the same sauce on the side, so not a lot of variation here. All were under-seasoned, and the lamb was not tender. In other reviews, the lamb looked like a winner, so maybe we just had a bad serving? Who knows...
One thing that bugged me a little was at no point were we provided with clean plates or utensils. I had olive pits hanging out on my plate from the Greek salad through the entire meal. When you order so much, it would have definitely been appreciated to have a clean plate at some point.
All in all, not a total fail. I'd go back for apps and maybe to try a different cocktail, but will likely not be back for dinner.
