| - If you are looking for a quick night out at a slightly better level than an Applebee's then Old Stone is for you. Not a good place for a nice night out with a bottle of wine and quality food.
Pretty disappointed with Old Stone Steakhouse. We moved to Belmont almost two years ago and kept saying we needed to go there. We took advantage of restaurant week to try it out. We wanted to make an evening out of it, so we got there about 30 minutes early to have a drink at the bar, everything was fine with that and we were seated at our table before the time our reservation was set for. We had the worst table you could get, right by the front door/hostess stand. It was not all that warm out, so every time the door opened you and your food were hit with a blast of cold air. My two star rating would not be higher had we gotten a better table. They were out of the prime rib, which we sort of expected they would be, but still hoping they would have it. We got the ribeye instead. Our salads came out very quickly, but we weren't even half way through our salads and they brought out our entree, there wasn't even enough room on our table for all the food. I ate a few more bites of my salad before giving up on it because my entree was getting cold every time the front door opened. My whipped potatoes were freezing by the time I started on them, I asked for them to be warmed up. They were certainly whipped potatoes, it would have been nice to have spoon with them, they wouldn't stay on my fork when i tried to eat them. Overall, the food wasn't great, certainly not worth the normal menu prices.
We felt like they were trying to turn over their tables as quickly as possible. We had planned on ordering a bottle of wine, but when the waitress saw we already had drinks from the bar she didn't even give us the option for another drink. Plus, our food was there so quickly we wouldn't have even had time to order a bottle. They didn't seem interested in letting anyone enjoy a night out at their restaurant. We even over heard one of the hostesses tell a family waiting that the table they were supposed to get just ordered a bottle of wine and she couldn't ask them to hurry or to leave, but that they (the waiting family) could stand over them to make them feel rushed. That pretty much sums up how we felt as well, get in and get out.
