| - This review is for the Echo Canyon trail. If your ankles, knees, and hips are in good working order and you're not afraid to climb over big boulders going virtually straight uphill, this is the hike for you! While it helps to be physically fit, you can do this if you're not - it just may take a while longer. Most parts of the trail have good footholds and a few options for climbing.
I've seen the terms easy and difficult, and feel each is subjective. I'll just use the terms, worthwhile, doable, challenging, and great exercise! The view from the summit gives you a sweeping 360 of the entire valley.
I went on a Monday at 10, and the timing was great. Parking lot wasn't too full, but still a steady stream of people going up and down.
Try to keep your hands free while hiking - take a small backpack. I wouldn't take a walking stick unless you have a place to carry it while you're climbing. Take a sweatshirt if you're going in the fall as it can get windy, and that can get cold if you're sweating.
