  • It's unfortunate that my experience in September 2012 involving a Groupon led me to write such a scathing review. It seems that about 9 months ago and then, again, a few weeks ago this office (Janice) reached out to me - under new management - to see if they could rectify the former unfortunate situation. I hadn't been into my account on Yelp in some time and only recently accessed these messages. I'm always mollified when someone makes an effort to right a wrong so even though that doesn't automatically generate an "A" in the overall rating department, it does tempt me to give another chance. We all have had bad days or been in bad situations. That said, it was time for my cleaning anyway, so I accepted an appointment with 1st Scottsdale Dental with Dr. Nejad. First off, I was impressed by the esthetic of the office - very spacious, well-appointed and relaxing (in spite of the occasional dental office instrument whining in the background - hey, it's a dental office. Drills happen (shudder)). I was greeted promptly and courteously by Janice, offered something to drink (non-alcoholic :-) of course) and soon after I finished my new patient paperwork, I was whisked back to my cozy room and chair. The xrays were a breeze especially because I wasn't made to bite down on that horrible sharp plastic thing for very long. Jeanne actually held the xray (um..."thing" for lack of a better technical term) in place herself so that I didn't HAVE to have that uncomfortable torture device in my mouth. Thank you! Xrays done, no problem! Next, Dr. Nejad came in for a thorough oral exam. THANK YOU! Next, the cleaning. I feel more compelled to confess my transgressions to my hygienist more than I EVER did to a priest, and besides I figure she's going to know I'm lying anyway once my mouth is open and there's blood everywhere. SURE, I FLOSS at least THREE times a day! Hm. Very suspicious! Well, it was a painless cleaning. Marcia was thorough and actually addressed the best way to floss around dental work I had on a front tooth (those suckers can be tricky, and I do NOT want that to pop off again). And as if the visit were not successful enough, the coup de grace was the WHITENING!!!! I was handed the tv remote and settled into comfort for 30 minutes while my teeth were whitened. I have to admit...I've tried this before at other offices and while the process wasn't a problem, the results were rather "meh". Not this time! I was so happy with my whitening I would DEFINTELY do it again. My teeth didn't look freakishly white but were noticeably whiter in a healthy, natural way. Well done! So...I've made an appointment for a cleaning in another six months. I'm a big proponent of second chances. I'm VERY glad this one turned out as well as it did. Janice, thanks for reaching out.
