As far as a "pool hall" social hang-out I don't think it gets better than Crooked Cue in Etobicoke. The place is clean, the tables are 'newer', and they even have ping pong tables. They have lots of room and the main bar area has a huge skylight over long community tables. Located on Bloor at Royal York, the upper location spans across a few retail stores below. Next to the main area there is anotehr room with many more tables that I assume they use for larger groups or private events. parking on the street seemed to be readily available (even on a Friday night).
The service was friendly, pub food was above average and there are lots of TV's to watch any current sporting events. It also seems to be a great place for large groups with one really long table for about 30 people near the front.
The nachos, burgers and appetizers were all good and they have a decent selection of beer. They even stopped the table timer when we took a break to eat our meal (which was unexpected). Overall it as a great experience...at least if you're interest in playing pool. I think it would be a decent place for socializing, having a few drinks and a good meal, however my rating is based on this being a pool, gastropub type of operation.
