Samoyed owners BEWARE as the price and quality of grooming here is not good. I was initially quoted $110-$140 over the phone for Samoyed grooming. The range given accounts for how dense the coat is, if they need to do any sanitary trimming or foot/ leg trim, and if there is matting. I figured the price would be at the low end of that range because I fully brushed him 2-3 days prior and he doesn't have a dense adult coat (he's about a year old now and doesn't have the full adult coat yet). The price seemed a lot higher then what I'm used to paying for his grooming elsewhere, but I went along with it because I knew it would be at the lower range and was hoping a good job would get done. When he was ready to be picked up they informed me it would be $180! I was so shocked and then the person helping me tried to break down the costs. First she said that the range given over the phone was a base price (which was very misleading since she made it sound as though that was the min and max amount for what I'd pay). She told me around his neck was very matted to which I told her that isn't possible. I fully combed and brushed him a few days prior AND he had been to a groomer 1 month ago. There is no way he was as bad as she was saying and she kept going on about it. I've brought him to get groomed many times before and no one has ever mentioned he has any matting. I brush him often as well so I have a hard time believing he was as bad as she was saying. For that they charged $1 PER MINUTE for 40 minutes. Samoyeds do take long to groom but the 110-140 pricing given over the phone takes into account the price for the breed and the extra work it takes to brush them out. After talking for a while she reduced the price by $10 to $170.... which is still ridiculous but I paid it anyways. Unsure whether my shock was valid, I took to Instagram and asked fellow Samoyed owners from near and far asking what they pay to get their Sammy groomed. The consensus was that the amount I paid was way too much. Once getting over the initial shock of price I looked him over to see how well they did and overall wasn't impressed. For the price I expected a more thorough job to be done. Other places I go to use a whitening shampoo so he looks whiter and shinier, but here he didn't look as fresh as he usually does after a groom. When I brought him home my family had no idea he got groomed, when it usually should be pretty evident because he becomes more puffy, fluffy, and white. Poor quality, expensive prices, don't bring your Samoyed here.
