| - Whoever would have guessed that I would be reviewing 2 sushi places in one day?! Let alone visiting 2 in one day :P
After my epic experience at Yummy Grill, I enthusiastically accepted an offer from Taylor T. to try Goyemon, later that evening :)
Upon arrival, it was pretty packed & seemed to live up to that aspect of the reviews. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait too long. We passed the time by people watching and funny commentary. Taylor T. was adamant about trying the AYCE & obviously, being a sushi noob, I was a little iffy about the whole AYCE eat thing. But, after being made fun of by the hostess for not being sure of the AYCE & that usually it was the guy getting AYCE & not the girl. Oh really?! The gauntlet was thrown & the challenge was accepted! Take that hostess!
So, thus began the AYCE madness & the 60 minute timer began :P I started off with some gyoza & yakitori, just to ease into the whole thing. My first sushi choice was a half order of the Hurricane roll. It was pretty good & I would order it again. Taylor T. had the half order of the Taylor roll (go figure) I actually thought it was really good & enjoyed it more than my choice. Next up was an order of the mussels. They were a little chewy, but sweet & very tasty. We followed up with half orders of the 911 & 007 rolls. The 911 was a little too spicy for my liking & the 007 roll was a nice simple roll, but kind of chewy. We finished the sushi portion off with the Domingo roll. This was definitely a good choice. Basically, a sushi roll topped off with some pico de gallo. What a great combo! Finally, we had the green tea crème brulee. It had a very subtle flavor, but really creamy & delicious. I just wish it was bigger, and AYCE though ;)
I will definitely be coming back for AYCE! I enjoyed my first AYCE experience here & look forward to more visits. The staff is very nice & really helpful & accommodating with suggestions & omissions of certain items.
And last but not least, shout out to the Goyemonster himself, Nelson Q! And thanks to Taylor T. for the invite!
