Toto and I had a blast today! Be prepared to prove your dog has had the rabies shot and that he's up to date on all vaccinations. It was free admission but a $5 charge to park. There was so much to see and do there. I think we must have been there for over three hours.
One of highlights of the day was the spray painting they did on my dog. He got a superman logo sprayed on him. They had lots of different designs to choose from. I would say somewhere around 50 different designs. It was $3. The women at the table did such a great job! It did fade pretty quickly though. You can hardly see it now 12 hours later. No biggie. It looked really good when they first did it though.
A lot of people were lined up for the free nail trims they were doing right next to the spray painting. My dogs nails had just recently been trimmed and filed so I decided to pass on that one.
Next to the spray painting table was an agility course you could do for a $2 donation. So we did it. I was impressed how quickly toto caught onto it. The lady directing my dog seemed to know how to get him to do it. Hint: treats were involved.
There was so much free stuff they were giving away. Free samples. Dog treats. Raffles. You name it. It was there. All dog friendly stuff. There was also a church there blessing the dogs. They had candles lit for dogs that had passed away. They even gave us a certificate after they blessed toto. All free stuff.
Someone gave me this long feather on a stick thing that I carried around for half the time before someone stopped me to ask where she could get one for her cat. I ended up giving it to her. My dog didn't seem to want to be bothered by it and she seemed like she really wanted it. Plus I was kinda over holding it and accidently poking random strangers.
One of the tables near the nail trimming and spray painting area had a bunch of stuff for real cheap. I'm just going to call it the dollar table. Dog clothes of all sizes and all the clothes were $1. They had high quality harnesses and collars all for $1. I also got a bag of toys for $1. In it was a squeaky monkey, a sesame street toy, and a tennis ball. This table was a real gem to find.
The store adjacent to the entrance when you first walk in had very high priced items. I suggest looking around at all the tables first before purchasing anything. They aren't going anywhere afterall.
Wish this pet expo happened more often, but I believe it's a yearly thing. Can't wait for next year. We'll definitely be going again.
