  • I came here on an evening for a food event posted through Yelp. Cibo is a part of the Creative Restaurants Group, which has several other restaurants here in Calgary, including Locolous, Scopa, Posto, Parc and Bonterra. I paid for the event and received "four" courses with a wine pairing for each. I say "four" courses because there was so much food it felt like a dozen course, and for what I paid for it was more than worth it! The first course was an antipasto, we were served several different types of cheese, a few plates of winter veggies, and some sliced meats. I am not a big cheese person (shocking I know), however the cheeses were light enough that I really enjoyed them and even went back for seconds (shocker again!). The first cheese was a large slice that was harder and older, with an oil drizzle, the other cheeses were gargonzola. I have had gargonzola before and was worried these would be too strong, but they were lovely! One was smoked, and the other was done normally (however that is) and paired with a cranberry sauce. The winter veggies were really nice as they added some lightness to the other foods, and paired with a creamy sauce for dipping. The veggies included roasted carrots, beets, radishes and a large head of roasted cauliflower. The meats were a warmed ham and cheese combo, and the second was a salami and greens mixture. The warm ham and cheese was my favourite of the two. The Primi course included a white tuffle oil pasta, a risotto and gnocchi; all heavy on the carbs here see? My favourite was definitely the truffle oil pasta, fairly oily but a nice woodsy flavour from the truffle oil. The gnocchi had onions, mushrooms and a balsamic reduction from the looks of it. The Secondi course was the main course, we were given two plates with an array of meats (pigeon, pork belly, bacon, and pulled pork) and a plate of lightly marinated arugula. By this point all of us at the table were overly stuffed. We had eaten so much over the course of the evening, but were all very satisfied as the dishes were superb and well organized! The waiters and waitresses were patient and very helpful, as well as efficient and professional the entire time. The last course was the dessert. We were served a hazelnut cake with a cream sauce to drizzle (or pour if you were still hungry) on, and a chocolate custard cake. Both were heavenly, the custard richer than the hazelnut cake; so by that point the hazelnut cake was my favourite as it was light and fluffy, but still rich in a sense, even without the sauce. I am looking for a recipe to replicate this masterpiece! Thank you to the organizers of this event, it went really well and I think everyone left more than stuffed from the tables. Job well done :D
