| - In 2012 when I was out of state for graduate school I canceled my internet service through Century Link. They were supposed to mail me a box within 2 weeks to return the rented equipment a router. I was leaving the state in 2 weeks to start a clinical rotation. The box never arrived. So due to good internet service when I came back to school after my 2 month clinical rotation I signed up for century link at that time I asked the employee about the router and he stated the model was out of date I couldn't use it and not to bother returning it. So in February of 2014 I get a call from a collection company, having never got an email about the router, no letter, nothing. I called to dispute and was told to contact Century Link, so I did. The manager just stated there is nothing they could do.
I have always paid all my bills on time, in fact 100% of the time, according to my credit report. I get that a company would have to charge for goods not returned, however, they were not returned due to Century Link's incompetence on multiple occasions. 1st they never mailed my return box, 2nd never sent a letter or even contacted me via my account, never mentioned the outstanding debt when I signed up again 2 months later, and failed to recognize their faults when I called to dispute.
This is a form of corporate bullying that consumers do not have to take; charging the little guy due to their errors as a corporation. I could have settled the collection for pennies on the dollar but I refused to be bullied because of Century Link's corporate greed. Please boycott corporate greed and refuse to do business with Century Link.
