| - Came here for some drinks and shared plates. We were walk ins at dinner/after work cocktail time on a Friday so didn't mind waiting a few minutes to be seated. They have a neat courtyard in back of the restaurant that's nice to sit in while waiting. We were really lucky being seated at the 2 corner seats at the counter because we really got to see how a well run restaurant functions. We watched as the manager called orders to the kitchen and as he expedited all the food that was coming out. He set up all the plates with whatever accompaniments were needed for the each dish and the second the food was ready, it was put on the plates and he quickly had a server deliver them to the tables. If there was no server available right then, he'd deliver them himself. ALL the food hit the tables piping hot, just how it should be.
With this being said, my favorite things we ordered were the Tempura green beans with chili-pepper jelly cream cheese, and the Crispy fried chicken skins with smoked honey. The time elapsed between the time they left the fryer to the time they were in front of our drooling lips was at the most 30 seconds. They both were piping hot, crispy, perfectly seasoned, and delicious as hell.
The other 2 dishes we ordered were the Pecan crusted lamb chops with a mint chimichurri and the Veal meatballs with sherry foie cream. These were also good with the lamb being better...a perfect mid-rare and the minty chimichurri gave a nice hit to it. The meatballs were tasty as well but pretty standard as far as a good meatball goes so that was our least favorite of the 4 dishes.
Really good food, a lively hipsterish atmosphere, and efficient and friendly staff, this is definitely a place that I want to come back to.
