| - I recently visited this restaurant for the first time and was both pleasantly surprised by the food quality and utterly dismayed over the attitude of our server. The restaurant is truly a "loft", located upstairs inside the Orleans Hotel and accessible either by stairway or elevator. I was running late for my reservation and they were able to accommodate happily, adjusting somewhat my reservation by 15 minutes. That, however, is almost where the great service stopped.
Overall, the main dining area approximates elegance, but there were many families dining with children and the prices aren't exorbitant. The prime rib is available in several cuts, escalating in size and price. Steaks are also available and all is cooked to order. The night I visited they had a special for a smallish steak and two lobster tails for a very reasonable price. In addition to a complimentary bread mix there are also several appetizers available - we ordered the stuffed mushroom caps and they were good but not great.
The only real negative for me was our server. After asking the fantastic busboy about our cocktail order, we were directed to ask our server. The restaurant has a full bar, but there is only a wine and beer list available at the table, so no mention of specialty cocktails. When our waiter arrived he was unshaven and dour. When I asked if they could make a Bahama Mama (a fairly common rum cocktail), the waiter stared blankly and said he'd never heard of it. He did inquire and they were able to make the drinks, but our waiter never once smiled or engaged us in any way other than the most perfunctory of requests required to get our orders. Basically, his attitude was a wet blanket on what otherwise would have been a really fine meal. While I can eagerly recommend the restaurant, I would also request other seating if this guy was ever our server again.
