| - Oh Midwood, how I love thee. This was the first place my husband and I ate in Charlotte when we decided to move here a few months ago. We had sat at the bar, ordered way too much food, and left happy and stuffed. We ended up moving very close by, so now it's a place we've been visiting about once a week. The staff is so friendly here and the service is great. Whether you sit at the bar, in the dining room, or on the nice patio, it's a relaxing place to have a meal.
We love their nachos with brisket on top, and also the cheese fries with brisket on top. Really, just give me brisket on top of anything and I'm good to go. We often split the pork plate. The pork melts in your mouth and has great flavor, and they also have a lot of great BBQ sauces to put on it. I love their hushpuppies, which are always fresh, and we're also big fans of the mac and cheese, collard greens, and baked beans. The pork plate is so huge we often have leftovers that we heat up with breakfast the next morning, and it's just as good. In general their portions are very large for the price. We always have leftovers, even when we try not to order too much.
Midwood also does take out really well. We ordered their smoked wings, a brisket quesadilla, and pork plate to go, and it was all packed so nicely. The brisket quesadilla is so, so good, so I'd highly recommend that whether you want it as a meal or need a snack to share.
Their banana pudding is also delicious, and they have a lot of great beers on tap including a "big size" that my husband beelines for whenever we dine in. They also have great cocktails, which I really didn't expect. I recently had a bourbon/mint/thyme drink that was delicious. There's so many other delicious things on the menu that we have to come back for, especially the ribs. If you're looking for a casual but nice dining experience and great BBQ, check out Midwood.
