  • Shwarma Palace is a solid spot for a decent donair. Still on my quest for the elusive Great Calgary Donair, I popped into the Palace on 17th on Saturday afternoon. The dining room is very nicely appointed, a lovely and charming atmosphere for what otherwise appears to be a roadside flyby spot. The pair behind the counter -- assuming they're the owners -- were delightful. They were cheerful, chatty and pleasant. The donair was OK and typical for Calgary, the meat a little on the non-spicy side and the sweet sauce a little on the non-garlicky side. But the search continues ...
