| - I grew up drinking Dunkin' Donuts coffee; well... when Maxwell House wasn't around anyway.
In the sixties, Dunkin was expanding beyond it's New England roots, into parts of Long Island where we lived. It was a new concept, going out for coffee and donuts, when you could eat at home. Then they opened a DD across the street from our church and "bam", life changed.
A few years ago I found myself on Boston Post Road in Quincy, Mass., and realized I was driving past a little bit of history on the side of the road. The original Dunkin' Donuts btw, looks very much like their template for all their other stores.
My memory and fondness for Dunkin has grown and faded with time. I'm pretty sure they've adjusted the caffeine at some point. Wowza! But what I really like, is their breakfast menu. I also hope they bring back the steak sandwich at some point. All very tasty.
In most parts of the East Coast and Midwest, America does run on Dunkin and I'm glad they do. Whenever I find myself needing a few minutes off, I stop here and relax. This location is well maintained, clean and all the employees are very nice and helpful. But Truthfully, I've never seen any Dunkin' that wasn't.
Thankfully, I've never had Fred the Baker's job and had to kick myself out of bed saying ...
"Time to Make the Donuts"
Enjoy!
