Having visiting a couple times this winter, I felt it is time to give a review.
I highly recommend visiting on a Think & Drink with the Extinct event scheduled monthly on Wednesday nights. It is a cool vibe with music playing and a couple of bars available. Animals are brought out for some interaction. In fact I saw a runaway porcupine. No worries, it was quickly wrangled up. Also, you can enjoy discounted parking and admission to boot. Great place for a cool date night or girl's night out,
I can't wait to visit the Perkins Wildlife Center when the weather is warmer. Both visits resulted in a quick walk through due to the cold temperature and wind. The only critters that were active was the otter and coyote. Make sure to check out the hours for the new Perkins exhibit to make sure you are not disappointed. Since there is not lighting outside, it closes early in the winter.
I also recommend taking your little ones to the basement to explore the Smead Discovery Center. It is truly a very unique play area focusing on the natural world. I think I had as much fun at the dinosaur dig and dinosaur table as my little person did. An hour of playtime flew by. We could of stayed longer, but YaYa was tuckered out by then.
We also went to the planetarium show. "ONE WORLD, ONE SKY: BIG BIRD'S ADVENTURE". I thought it was an entertaining introduction for my little one. Big Bird and Elmo helped keep his attention.
Lastly, it seems we cannot visit a museum without getting hungry. I have not been disappointed with the cafe, "EXPLORATION: A ZACK BRUELL RESTAURANT". There are many healthy choices available and I feel the prices are reasonable.
