  • Yelp hasn't changed the name yet, but Alliance no longer manages the property and ConAm took over in Oct 2016, calling it Altitude Sixteen75. I've lived here since Jan 2016 when the third and fourth floors were allowed to be moved into. Originally I was told I could move in around Thanksgiving 2015, but permit delays pushed it back six weeks and that's not really relevant now, I suppose. The building may have been at 40% capacity when I moved-in and stayed pretty empty through spring, at least the units all around me stayed unoccupied for quite some time keeping the noise down. Overall, this has been the more pleasant apartment residences I've lived in over my 18 years of being an adult. I had to go from a single family home back to an apartment and was reminded of some of the nuances of multi-unit housing such as if you're not the top floor, you're going to hear the person above you. In regards to noise, I rarely hear someone an on adjoining wall. If so, just turning on a light stereo will quickly drown that out. Since others have said they're also hearing their upstairs neighbor, I know it isn't just me. I live below one of the penthouses, so I also get to listen to them clobber down the stairs and grind their kitchen chairs on the (presumably) wood floors. (I'm pretty sure the penthouses have actual wood flooring while everyone else has a vinyl wood-like flooring.) The biggest complaint for noise I would have to say is that the builder cheaped out on the windows. I'm north facing (facing the hotel) and it often sounds like I have my windows open with how much noise still comes in. I work from home, so I'm home all day, and the traffic is surprisingly high during the day and often have to mute myself in a conference call from the 18 garbage trucks that go by daily, or the daily landscaping that's either from the hotel or the property here, or just even your average sedan makes a lot of noise somehow. You learn which bellhop/valet guy is on shift at the Hilton because they each have a different call for the black car service that sits in the valet lot. You can also often hear the black car guys talking, but that's more of an issue of just how well sound carries around here. The one person complaining about the fire alarms... yeah, the first one was annoying because it basically lasted through the night with the alarm continuously tripping and waking everyone up while the crew was trying to do initial damage control. The one that happened last week that she's squawking about, I didn't even have enough time to get what I needed to get out the door before the alarm stopped. It happened around 3:30 in the afternoon. The building is pretty empty during the day so no, not everyone was inconvenienced having to drag their pets out, blah blah blah. As long as there's a legitimate reason for those to be going off, I'm ok with it. HOWEVER, be aware that the main hallway alarm is extremely ear piercing and cover your kids/pets ears if at all possible until you can get to the stairway. The pool is nice and rarely used during the week. The fitness center is really, really good for an apartment complex with two levels with some free weights as well as machine weights (and cardio equipment). There are also kettlebells and a rowing machine upstairs. Every now and then someone will be playing pool or pingpong outside, and I don't often see the cabanas being used, but those are nice to relax in as well. Parking, yeah, that's an issue almost anywhere. You should have an assigned spot. There's a handful of the guest parking that residents end up using. There was a time that you could buy extra parking, but with the building at capacity, I assume there's no more. Although it doesn't make sense why a 2-bedroom is only allotted one parking space. In unit, the finishes are better than average, but as others mentioned, some of the workmanship isn't all that great. The guys rushed through trying to put the place together and you can tell that's the case on handles, or the gaps in the grout in the shower stalls, paint on cabinets, but overall everything is pretty well put together. The dishwasher could have been a slightly better model as it's just a bit undersized, in my opinion. Everyone else has also mentioned the issue with the oven venting out into the unit. The AC has the tiniest little air filter (10x30) so I'm not sure how well it actually works (it's never been dirty when I've changed it out), but the AC itself is pretty quiet for an in-unit AC. The thermostat is one of those ones that has a 2-degree variation so if you have it set to 75, it won't turn on until it hits 76 and then cools the place to 74 before turning off. Carpet and padding are of decent quality and seem to hold up ok. Depending on how much ConAm is going to increase rents upon renewal, I'm not sure if I'll stick around or not. It's a bit expensive for Phoenix, but I love the area and proximity to Dreamy Draw for hiking.
