  • Having grown up across the street from an old cemetery, I have always found old cemeteries very interesting. I was visiting Cleveland last weekend, and stopped in at Lake View to see the graves of some of the famous people. There was one person buried there with strong Chicago connections, Henry Parsons Crowell, and he was not listed on the handout map. I simply cannot explain how nice and accommodating the staff was! Not only did they look up the grave for me and give me a map of the section, but the gentleman actually got in his car and guided me out to make sure I found the grave! I realize these cemeteries are going businesses and try to bother the staff as little as possible, but I am totally overwhelmed at the warm reception I got here! The cemetery itself is absolutely stunning, with beautiful statuary, wonderful overlooks, and this has to be one of the "leafiest" cemeteries I have ever seen! Lots of beautiful trees, interesting people. While it was raining lightly during my visit, I was able to see a lot of interesting people. Be sure and visit "Millionaires' Row,: with the graves of John D. Rockerfeller and other notables, as well as the Presidential Mausoleum. There is a small gift shop in the mausoleum where you can purchase a very nice book on the cemetery. I definitely will return here!
