  • Let me start by saying that I've been a loyal Chittick patient for at least 7 years, I even worked at Chittick Savoy at one point. I also bring my family here, not as often, as they still have good vision, but they still get their yearly exam. I called a few weeks prior to my exam to set up a contact lens fitting. I spoke to the receptionist about the process and the fee that I would have to pay since it wasn't covered during my routine eye exam. She explained it would be an additional out of pocket $60 fee. On my appointment day the fuss started as soon as I walked in the door. I walked to the desk and no one greeted me immediately. I stood there while the two ladies at the desk were talking to one of the techs, who was crying. The tech was saying, at a normal volume, at the desk in the lobby for whomever to hear, how mean Dr. Brothers was and how awful it was to work for him. This went on for at least a couple of minutes. Not a great start. After they finally acknowledge me, the girl at the desk checked me in and handed me the typical paperwork as if it was a yearly exam. I thought it was bizarre as I was just there a couple months prior, but figured she knew what she was doing and filled the paperwork out, and turned it into her and sat back down to wait for the tech. I waited twenty minutes in the lobby to be called back for the pre-work up. When we went into the first room, the tech began to ask questions and then said she needed my blood pressure. Just as I assumed, she thought I was there for a full exam. I tell her I'm only there for a fitting and she takes me back out to the lobby while they figure it out. I can hear the two of them talking at the desk about which lenses to put me in so I walk up to the desk and let them know that I am not interested in bifocal contacts (I wear bifocal glasses) and that I didn't like the last brand of lenses I wore before and that I found them to be too uncomfortable, which is why I stopped wearing contacts. She interrupted me and told me she knew what she was doing. Little does she know that I was an optometric tech for 6 years and I, also, knew what I was doing. Ten additional minutes have passed and a different tech (the one that was crying) takes me to an exam room. She hands me lenses to try on. I take them and they are the exact same lenses I wore before. The exact same lenses I told the other girl (the one who said she knew what she was doing) I didn't like. Fifteen additional minutes go by and Dr. Brothers comes in, wildly confused as to why I don't have lenses in. Apparently, everyone ignore the instruction of Dr. Brothers and the lenses he suggested to put me in. AND he was told that I had never worn contact lenses before. Needless to say, he's now as frustrated as I am and takes matters into his own hands and goes to get lenses for me. So, now I've been at this appointment for an hour and a half and it's finally time to check out. I go to the desk and ask her to make the follow up appointment. We do that without a hitch. I ask her if I can pay my $60 fee now. She tells me that there is no fee for the visit. We go around and around for a few minutes about the fee and she assures me that there is not one and that I have a $0 balance on my account. What do you know, but today (3 weeks later), I get a bill for $60 in the mail. I don't know how or why this location has gone so far downhill at such an alarming rate, but I will never return again. I'm not even finished with my contact lens follow ups and I'm ok with writing the whole place off. I will send payment for my bill and never look back again. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because I love Dr. Brothers and will miss him dearly.
