  • There are often times when one pays to get into a museum or other attraction and leaves thinking that the experience wasn't even close to worth the ticket price. This is not one of those places. I found this place totally worth the $22 ticket price. The first thing I really liked was the free coat and baggage check. Since I came from my hotel before my late afternoon flight, it was nice to be able to stash everything for a few hours. Very nice touch. There really are quite a lot of interesting things in this museum from hand written letters and lyrics on all sorts of interesting things to clothing and instruments, posters, etc. Everything is very well organized with numbered pins and explanations down below. I found it very easy to take everything in without taking forever like some museums such as the Smithsonian. I like how the exhibits evolved from the pre Elvis roots of rock and roll all the way up to modern times. There are some questionable choices though... I'm not sure Ice T or other rappers really belong. And even though he is/was insanely famous, I'm not sure Michael Jackson has a place here either. It seems at times that they may be trying to please everybody instead of sticking purely to rock music. It also is a bit lame that photography is off limits throughout most of the museum. I understand that much of the stuff comes from private collections, but why can't one take pictures of a private collection? It's pretty lame... but it's still worth it to get to see all the stuff. The layout is also a bit odd... It's not logical at all. Sometimes it's not clear which way to go, and there is a lot of looping around and walking back to see both sides of the halls. It doesn't really take away from the experience, but it feels like it was done by someone who really had no idea what they were doing. Almost 5 stars, but not quite. Still, one of the best museums I've ever been to. I will be back if ever in Cleveland again.
