  • I dined here on a week night celebrating a birthday, the list of Belgian beers was what brought us in. For it being a Penguin playoff game night I was surprised by how slow it was, albeit it was an away game. We sat in the bar area and our waitress was very attentive. We started with a round of drinks and a few appetizers, the feta wedges and wings. I must say though the list of Belgian beers was impressive there isn't much variety for anything else. For dinner I ordered one of the chicken sandwiches while others ordered mac and cheese, the Rocky Mountain burger, and the meatloaf. Though the food was fine we were surprised by the prices. Sure, wild boar meatloaf may cost a bit more, I couldn't believe a simple chicken sandwich was priced at $14 and with no extra frills. Along with the high cost of the food we were very surprised when we received the check. Even local beers had such a high upcharge. Certainly the cultural district is home to more upscale dining but our experience was more on par with a TGI Friday's than any neighboring restaurants. I would've given this spot 3 stars if it weren't for our post dinner experience. Once we closed our tab we decided to finish watching the first period of the game at the bar. We all came from work and had bags and extra items to gather up, while my party was gathering our things to move to the bar I decided to order a round of drinks so that those in my party wouldn't have to wait. Once the bartender came over I ordered drinks, I was told she would need to see everyone's ID's-understandable. But when she saw that we were at the table she told us we had to order from our server. I tried to explain we were moving and was ultimately denied a drink until my whole party was seated. Within a minute our party had made its way to the bar where we waited a few minutes for her to stop back. The whole ordeal made us feel unwelcome that half of our party decided to leave. I get not wanting to serve those at a table but the fact that she didn't believe me (?) really rubbed me the wrong way. All in all, over priced bar fare and an unfriendly bartender make the Sharp Edge a one-and-done for me.
