  • My mom was having some tooth pain and Dr. Betancourt was originally planning to put in an amalgam filling. After I had caught it on the receipt, I stopped him from putting it in due to health reasons. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3025977/ However, that was after Betancourt argued with me in front of everyone about how amalgams are harmless for about 10 minutes. I appreciated his perspective, but at the same time was very uncomfortable because the office is extremely small without any real walls, so the whole show was loud and clear for everyone there. A composite resin was put in for $150 and the procedure went smoothly without any complications. However, a couple days later, my mom was in pain again. We made another appointment and went back in, but when we arrived, there was only 1 seat available and they told us that it would take awhile to get to us. We decided to reschedule and was told that this was the last day before Betancourt would go on vacation for 2 weeks. I think that he may be the only dentist that works there. During the next appointment, I asked if we could get a refund since the filling was completely ineffective. He declined and reasoned that since it was already put in, there was nothing he could do. This was extremely disappointing because even though he said that the composite resin would not last as long as the amalgam, he failed to mention anything about it lasting less than a few days. At that point my mom just wanted to get it over with and since this time he didn't make any guarantees about her being in pain again if we went with his initial option of treatment starting with a temporary, she ended up deciding to have it pulled. The only reason I rated this business more than 1 star was because the front desk and assistants were nice, and Betancourt seems nice as well, but we were not pleased with the service at all.
