| - Okay, so I don't have an appointment but it was also a wet possibly snowing rainy Friday early evening (5 pm)and I don't anticipate a fully booked night. I did a walk in and what looked to be as the manager said that they can accommodate me for a 30 minute signature manicure. Looked because it was Halloween and everyone was in costume so it was difficult to tell. I was assigned to Angie. She's very knowledgeable in facial and overall aesthetics but seemed a little rushed. Yes, it was a 30 minute manicure but I've done manicures before and never felt rushed.
Pros : server came to see me for a beverage order. I ordered a tea and she brought a receipt to me.
Angie my nail aesthetician, took my coat, my bag etc to my seat while I browsed for my nail colour.
My nail needed a touch up despite sitting for 20 minutes and both manager and angie were fast to fix.
Cool vibe with open airy spaces so that's a bonus.
Available cafe seating next to nail bar to sit and relax.
Cons: it's a new place (opened for close to a month) and no processes and standards have been established. No standard operating and service standards. Nada. How can you tell? No one knows who's doing what, when and how. A slew of people at the counter retail space, chatting and not paying attention to customers.
I saw at the cafe table next to nail bar for 20mins before approaching to manager for the the nail touch up.
My lovely tea pot and cup was barely used. Why ? They didn't put the teabag in the pot ! How can someone whose nails are being done open a tea bag? Angie had to do it.
After sitting down at the cafe table, no one came to check on me or to refill my cup. Yes, cold tea. Yikey.
Girl with shaved hair was super kind in showing me the cashmere collection because I didn't want to ruin my nails. I had to ask to be excused around the cashier retail area because of lingering staff who are just chatting and gossiping. Paid up and left only to be stopped by the server saying that I need to pay for my tea. Huh? Isn't it all on the same bill? She said no. I said why not ? They took my receipt when paying for my nails. She said it's not set up yet. I said the staff and mgmt needs to gave clearer communication and processes. Angie said that there's not enough staff. I said that there are too many inefficient staff standing around idling.
I understand that the business is new. But I also know that real estate along king and spadina isn't cheap and there is an expectation that if you are in this neighborhood, there needs to be a level of service standard. Since this place doesn't come cheap, why not focus some of the energies on service standards and exceeding customer expectations rather than what type of music is being played, the types of pretty tea cups and the funky beach pedicure chairs.
I've been to many beauty service places, facials, massage, spas, nail salons etc so this review is meant in good faith for the business to improve themselves.
Good long lasting profitable business cannot last without exceeding customer expectations.
Oh yes, I have bubbles in my nails. The oil spray stuck and now I have bubbles :/
