| - My review will focus on the only experience I've had at Lutheran - outpatient surgery/orthopedics.
Sean had to get his hand screwed back together this past Thursday (see Ohio City Burrito review) and it was scheduled for outpatient surgery at Lutheran. From the moment we showed up, it was obvious that these people have their proverbial shit together. They were expecting him, let us know what was going on right away, told us what was happening next and what we would expect after surgery.
I was escorted to the waiting room when it was time for Sean to go. The waiting room was nice - free coffee and water, TV, plenty of reading materials. An older lady was there to keep track of who was waiting for whom and called out to you if there were updates from the doctors, etc.
The nurses, technicians, and volunteers I encountered were all very nice and helpful. They didn't try to rush us out of there when Sean was still all groggy, either. They let him rest as long as he needed to and I felt like they really would have let us stay a lot longer if we wanted. I would even give props to the outpatient pharmacy there. They filled his pain medication in less than 5 minutes. Although they aren't affilitated with Lutheran, it was still very convenient to have the pharmacy in the lobby.
The only thing that could be better was that the waiting room was pretty small - it was pretty packed with waiting people. Also, surgery was delayed over an hour but I work in a hospital so I get it. Things can't always go right on time when we're working on human beings. As long as Sean came back put together, I didn't care if it was 9 o'clock or 1:30.
We were very satisfied with the experience here. No one wants to go to the hospital so it's nice to at least not have a horrible time when you're there.
