| - Don't be fooled by it's Yonge/Bloor address or the fact that this spa is in a hotel. They're far from being a spa.
I had every intention of treating my fiancé and I to a long awaited day of complete relaxation. we both had brought a book to read, hoping to find peace. so from here, I'll break it down to the entire experience as every aspect of it was completely unacceptable in terms of running a spa, let alone a business.
The Massage:
I had requested for a couples massage that they acknowledged at the time of booking, but then denied once we were in our robes and paper-thin slippers. For myself, I had the aromatherapy massage. my lady proceeded to use the oil that was on hand and didn't even bother giving me a rundown of oil types and healing properties. after I lay awake for 10 minutes, I told her I wanted to choose from other oils they had available, and I said eucalyptus - which she started to challenge me on (further engaging me in a conversation I was not there for) before she finally left to grab it in a huff. throughout my massage she would tell me to put my arm back under the blanket and even shoved my arms under the blanket, completely defeating the purpose of "don't move a muscle". towards the end she started whacking my forehead that leads me to question if she was even professionally trained! needless to say this was the worst massage I've ever had.
The steam room
Was NOT a steam room, it was a dirty steam shower with mold and mildew on the tiles. So we went to the Sauna.
The Sauna
had a mop propped outside of the door, which was so unprofessional and unhygienic! we told the front desk and they quickly removed it so we went to grab clean towels and I looked through 10+ towels, each of them were stained in different places. we were so frustrated at this point and decided to make the most of it by using decent amenity...only to be welcomed by a puddle of more slim and mildew in the floor of the sauna.
Voicing our experience with the manager
the manager sat me down and had me explain why I was unsatisfied. after she said, "we cannot give you a discount, but we could offer you a free manicure/pedicure". I told her it was a spa that I didn't want to come back to at all, she then gave us a discount and two gift bags.
the gift bags
had in-house-packed soaking salts in a zip lock bag which had HAIR in it. same thing with the canisters of loose tea leaves' ...home-printed labels on the canisters had HAIR stuck on them! and to think they expect people to drink the tea? or to soak in the salt?
this "spa" is so gross
