So many breweries.... It's a good thing if you are a beer lover. Checked this place out over the weekend when they opened. I didn't really read up on them since it was about a 30min drive from where I live in Charlotte... so I was pretty surprised when I was driving along, turning at the large fermentor, finding a large space with a large outdoor patio.
Was there to celebrate a buddy's birthday so I arrive around 1pm and the parking lot was slammed... it's gravel, but I had to park on the grass... I think I may have angered a few geese since I was encroaching on their turf so I got a couple hisses as I walked by (watch out for geese land mines here).
They had six offerings of their beer. Solid Oatmeal Stout and IPA... unfortunately I did not partake in a flight since there was only one line doing flights and it was pretty long. I also noticed they had Bud Light on tap... I'm not really going to launch into why you would go to a local brewery and have that... but it's there.** They also had wine (for those winos out there)... but it's nice they have some alternative for those attached to said beer drinkers who do not share the love of craft beer.
**CORRECTION: The Bud Light Tap handle is the tap handle for when you order a water. Totally get the joke now that I am in on it. I'm sure the bar tenders would have told me if I had asked when I visited.
They had a food truck catering for the entire opening weekend... I forgot who it was since the line was GINORMOUS and I stayed with my liquid diet. Once they got the food going, it looked pretty good... but the line never really tapered the entire time we were there. Lines for beer kept growing... and it's pretty bad when you have to wait 30min in a line just to close your tab out. Hopefully they figure it out. I'm just going to give them the benefit of the doubt for now.... given that their communal beer hall and garagedoors and patios make for a great place to go hang. They even have a separate event space (loft style) in the corner that was open for a private event. Bathrooms were plentiful... and I never saw a line for the ladies room. Apparently there are 8 stalls in there I found out later.
I'll probably only ever get here on weekends and given their size, it will probably be ok.... but I wouldn't drive 30min to know that it is going to take equallly as long to get a beer order in.
