CAESARS PALACE SWEEPSTAKES WINNERS ADVENTURE #6: ROMAN POOLS
I have major fascination of hotel pools. I like them a lot. When you're on vacation the type of pools can have a major impact on how you relax. Preferrably I like indoor pools versus outdoor pools because you can swim in them later throughout the night. However I've never seen outdoor pools like the pools at Caesars Palace. The setting is like Ancient Rome with the columns, towers, and fountains. Recently I saw in image in Twitter on "Flashback Friday" of the pool at Caesars Palace in 1982. The picture of the pool had a modern 1980s feel - as if I was watching the TV show "Dynasty". I'm glad that the swimming pools at Caesars Palace have been upgraded through the years. At Caesars Palace there isn't just 1 pool but 7 pools whereas most hotels have only 1 pool. Each pool has its own characteristics. When I swam there I only swam at two of the pools as they were mostly in use - Temple Pool and Neptune Pool. Due to the summer season I decided to rent the Neptune Scoop for $50 in fear of not getting any free beach chairs. On the day of my swim there was an overcast at Vegas. On my last day of Vegas was it going to rain? There was some sprinkling during the morning. When you rent a beach bed or beach chair at Caesars Palace there is no refund. I was hoping Caesars Palace wouldn't not cancel the swimming in the pools on my last day. Fortunately the sky cleared around 2:00 PM that afternoon.
What makes the pools at Caesars Palace alluring are the setting. First there are three Caesars Palace towers in background of the pools: Augustus, Octavius, and Palace. The Neptune Pool is where most of the people swim in. That pool itself is bigger than most hotel pools at The Strip. The Neptune isn't fancy just a large rectangular frame. That structure makes the Neptune Pool inviting to swim in yet never feels cramped with too many people. If I was just rating the Neptune Pool my rating would be 4 stars. The Temple Pool brings the rating over the top. With the temple in the middle of the pool and the overflowing of fountains that pool is the most seductive pool at The Strip. The Temple Pool fits the Ancient Roman theme of Caesars Palace. When I swam the Temple Pool was much colder than the Neptune Pool. However if you go the fountains at the Temple Pool let the water fall on you as a way to wash away the stress you had before your vacation. Standing around the fountain with the water splashing on you feels as if you're at the bottom of a waterfall. There's nothing more relaxing in a pool than that.
I began to appreciate the pools at Caesars Palace when I observed other pools at other hotels on The Strip while I was at Vegas. There's only one pool at these hotels. Even the Neptune Pool at Caesars Palace looks more inviting to swim in than the pools I saw. There was something magical about these pools Caesars Palace because you really can relax while you swim in them. There's a calming effect at the Garden of the Gods Pool Oasis - a reminder that you shouldn't be stressed on your vacation. After seeing the Garden of Gods Pool Oasis at Caesars Palace I can't look at any outdoor or indoor pools the same way again.
