| - Origin is amazing.
First to help you find the place: They're located in the INA building (the one across the street from Melt) on the fourth floor, suite 485. We parked behind the building in the sketchy parking garage, sketchy only because I questioned whether this thing would still be standing if full - it's a *little* deteriorated to say the least. I've read they do validated parking, so I'm assuming this is the garage it would be for - however, it was Saturday so parking was FREE.
Entering the building was legit creepy. We came in through the back entrance and passed by an (empty) Barber Shop and walked down a desolate hallway to the elevators. Maybe it was so eerily quiet because it was a Saturday, but we only passed one other person on our way up. The other doors in the building looked to be those that belong to doctors of various sorts, so during the week the building was probably less creep city.
Once we got up to the suite the door looked like all the others - with a simple sign (much like one you would find in medical office) that read Origin Massage Studio. My boyfriend let me enter first, not knowing what we should expect on the other side of the door. Upon entering, we were greeted by Hannah and Krysti, the massage therapists. There is also a third therapist (who I believe owns Origin with Hannah, she is on maternity leave at the moment, but will be returning shortly). I'm not sure exact schedules but Hannah told us she is there 6 days a week and the other girls are there for 4.
The reception area is tiny, but felt serene and spa like. A wooden desk, two white couches, sage walls, and a shelf with a glass water jug. The first thing I mentioned when I walked in was that the building seemed creepy! But that I was glad the actual studio was inviting. Next, we filled out some minimal paperwork and then followed the therapists to the couples massage room. It was dimly lit, soft relaxing music playing, medium purple walls, just very relaxing. We then briefly talked to our therapists who inquired if there were any touchy spots, or areas we needed worked on more than others.
The massage itself was glorious. I could have fallen asleep a number of times. It was soothing and absolutely relaxing - everything I want a massage to be. The only downside - of which Origin is already aware - was that the street noise from below wasn't completely blocked out. We were able to hear cars beeping and what seemed to be someone leaf blowing their lawn. I'm not picky or that easily irritable, so it didn't bother me one bit. In fact, I think total silence may have creeped me out more. The boyfriend enjoyed his massage as well, but would probably rather return for a deep tissue instead of relaxation massage. He's got a lot of back issues and the relaxation just wasn't enough pressure for him. Admittedly that is his fault for not being specific with what he wanted.
A couples massage will run you around $100 for 1 hour. An individual massage will run you $55 for an hour and $75 for an hour and a half. Since we had a Groupon, we got the couples massage for $50 bucks, and I think it was a steal!
Without a doubt, we will be back again. I was thoroughly relaxed after my massage, drank plenty of water, and indulged in a nice brunch at Sweet Melissa. I think I could make this a regular routine.
