  • In town for business, I booked two nights at this hotel. Checkin was relatively easy, no problems. Room wasn't the cleanest but I clean surfaces that I'm going to touch so, yeah, the desk was disgustingly dirty, but I cleaned it. The mildew on shower tiles, I didn't clean. Not cool, housekeeping. And how old is this hotel, anyway? It looks newer from the outside and on the first floor common area but the room and carpets were beat up and stained. Yesterday morning, after hanging my do not disturb sign, i proceeded to the front desk and told the Mgr that even though the Do NOT DIsturb sign hung proudly on the door already, to please note that I did not require a visit from housekeeping. When I returned yesterday afternoon, I stopped by the front desk (mostly professional and friendly) to ask if they used FedEx or UPS (they use FedEx). That's when I spied a marketing box (empty) that was in my room when I left the hotel at 7:20am. Wait....what?! SO, someone did go in my room....not to clean, certainly not to clean the mildew in the shower or take out the garbage. Apparently the sole reason was to remove the only box I needed (though I did get it back). Why only the one box, (there was another one) but mainly.......why go in the room after a specific request was made? The afternoon Mgr stood quietly as I asked my questions and tried to figure out what happened, but he made zero effort to try to find out what happened (as far as I could see) I gave up and went upstairs. After a mostly sleepless night, I trekked back down to the front desk this morning. No manager available. The clerk said the General Mgr would be in shortly so I waited another 40 minutes. Again, only the clerk, who was of very few words & maybe a bit of an introvert. Nothing wrong with that...but maybe a poor career choice if you have to deal with people? Just a thought. Since no one I encountered in person had any idea as to why it's alright to enter a room, i still don't have an answer. Bottom line: to remove something that does not belong to your hotel is absolutely unacceptable. You are billing $183, plus tax (for a room a mighty proud rate for such a poor example of the Hilton chain) and in exchange for payment, I expect that no one will enter unless invited. Period. And the fact that your staff seems content to shrug their shoulders and plead ignorance as to why it happened is a sign of the bigger problem with this hotel. I emailed the Gen Mgr this afternoon, still no reply. I will give a shout out to Laura and the gentleman working the restaurant this morning. They were helpful and friendly and are the reason for the one star.
