I had no idea this museum was in Phoenix, and am so glad that it is. When you get your ticket, you get a headphone and a little player that interacts with the hundreds of television screens throughout the museum. Each screen plays three short musical clips. The top floor lets you travel the world through music, with displays of instruments, artifacts, and more from five geographical regions across the world. The ground level has artist galleries featuring world-renowned musicians, a mechanical music gallery of instruments designed to play on their own, and even a hands-on section where you can play with some instruments yourself. There is even a Steinway piano in the hallway that visitors can play for other guests. Just make sure to get to the museum early and plan to spend the day there--there's that much to see, even without the traveling exhibits. There's a cute little cafe inside the museum that serves lunch (but only at certain times) and a fun gift shop, too.
