  • I had read other reviews about this company after my husband suggested we go with them. When I expressed concern over the negative reviews, Mattie, the Senior Loan Officer, assured us that we would receive excellent service. She also assured us that we were eligible for a refinance even after we told her we had a foreclosure on our record only 4 years ago. "We have a foreclosure," we said. "No problem," Mattie said. "Our current bank told us we have to wait 2 1/2 more years," we said. "No, you don't," Mattie said. "Your credit rating is excellent!" (She was right about that. We do have excellent credit despite the foreclosure of over 4 years ago.) So we filed all of the paperwork. We stayed up late signing documents. We ran to the bank for copies of everything Wyndham asked for. We gave them our credit card to pay for the appraisal. "We are going to get you a great deal," Mattie said. "We can get you an FHA loan," Mattie said. "Congratulations. You've qualified for a conventional loan!" Mattie said. And then two days after we submitted and signed everything they asked for, we get a call from the underwriting department asking, "Do you have a foreclosure on your record?" "Yes," we said. "Over four years ago. And we told Mattie about this when she first contacted us. We told her over and over." "Oh, well," they said, "we can't do a refi since your foreclosure is less than 7 years old." We complained. We said, "But we told Mattie...." Then they put us on the phone with the manager Josh who told us that our docs show that we had a short sale not a foreclosure. Not cool. I am not going to speculate about what happened, but I will point out that this company has a long history of problems. The Better Business Bureau (while giving Wyndham an A rating) also recognizes 30 complaints lodged against this company in the past three years. After speaking with Josh (the manager), he then wanted to offer us this new amazing deal that (while not as "great" as the previous offer) would still save us so much money! Humph. Not surprising. I've read that a few other people have recorded a bait & switch operation at Wyndham. I don't know if that's their practice, but I do know that someone there is either intentionally dishonest or incredibly ignorant. Either way, I will steer clear of this company in the future. I would also recommend that others use caution when dealing with them.
