  • I almost feel that the only thing I need to write here is "Maple Bacon Waffles" and leave it at that! I'd been heading to Starving Artist for mid-week brunch with friends for almost 6-months before I noticed the bacon waffles on the menu as a side. OK, if you A. love bacon (so 95% of the population because even my vegan friends eat bacon!) and B. understand the need for REAL maple syrup as well as 3. crave that tasty mix of salt & sweet in your food, then bacon waffles are for you! They dip strips of bacon in waffle batter, put them in the waffle maker and serve them up like a little log cabin with a ramekin of delicious Canadian maple syrup inside. Pure Heaven. On top of that, the rest of the waffle based menu is delicious, budget friendly and even the coffee is acceptable. Cranky old me will even put up with the "Peter Pan Generation" (my loving attempt to categorize the "hipsters") that saturate the place with their "cool", for what SA is serving up on the menu. Weekends are insanely busy from opening until about 3PM so if you don't like waiting, head over during the week or have breakfast for dinner, they're open late!
