  • Wow, this place was such an amazing surprise. My beloved is a former Phoencian, and swore by this place. So last week, after turkey and doing anything to avoid both cooking AND leftovers, he sold me on getting take out from this place. Over Federal Pizza and Pomo. I was, to say the least, skeptical. And dead wrong. Yes, the Thomas Street location is sketchy, and the decor is cheesy. But who cares about looks? What I care about is substance: namely, the crust and the sauce. This place has both in spades. We got the Frescolina. Perfect cornicone, great flavor in the crust, which was appropriately thin. The sauce was slightly sweet and deliciously herby with oregano, neither too heavy nor too light, but just right as a contrast to the salty prosciutto, creamy mozz, and biting arugula. I would be remiss, however, in not mentioning the antipasto platter, a generous portion of caprese salad, cured artichokes, olives, peppers, eggplant, and prosciutto, which comes with a side of balsamic vinegar that should be generously applied. If you, like me, think you've had all the excellent pizza Phoenix has to offer, but haven't been here, you're wrong.
