| - This is a great place for vegetarians, a lot more options than most Mexican restaurants. There are tacos (vegan option also), Mexican pizza, burrito, enchilada, and nachos. All are made with black beans and very tasty cheese. Smaller entrees come with salad, which is nice. Happy Hour prices are excellent, especially $5 for an enormous plate of nachos.
Service has been excellent every time we visit, attentive servers and glasses rarely left empty. Also, we've noticed on several occasions really good music playing including Radiohead and The Cure.
Only two negatives: first, the queso. The queso dip is nothing like queso at other restaurants. While I appreciate that it is real cheese and not vegetable oil fake cheese from a jar, it does not really work... it is just sort of a gob of melted cheese that you cannot dip chips in and as it cools it solidifies leaving a mound of goo floating in a pan of left over grease. I would skip this item.
Second, the decor. Art is subjective, but I really really hate the paintings on display depicting obese couples doing the tango. Yikes!
One negative that turned into a positive: bar is geared toward tequila drinks, and a full selection of drinks is not available. We ordered a White Russian, but they did not have the ingredients. However, the bartender recommended a substitution and the resulting drink was awesome!
I cannot speak for the meat dishes, but the veg-friendly options are plentiful and tasty. Come for Happy Hour- the deals are good and the restaurant is nearly empty that time of day.
