| - We live in California and have a rental property in Avondale. It was time for a check-up and/or service on the a/c unit. Our tenants called a local place, not Fosters, and paid $40 for that service and then contacted us with a laundry list of repairs this company was recommending. Hundreds of dollars were going to be needed, and if you believed what they said, not only was our a/c unit on it's last leg, but the ducting in our house needed to be re-routed, among other things! Even showing our tenants pictures of the "coil" with the massive amount of dirt, etc...
Having been down the road with not-so-reliable contractors before, we decided to get another estimate. I mean, even if we had to pay another inspection fee, it would still be beneficial to get a 2nd opinion.
I contacted my brother, who is in construction and also lives in the Phoenix area to see if he could recommend someone. Without hesitation he said, "I'd contact Foster Mechanical. They've always treated us well.". Even with his recommendation, the first thing I attempted to do is find their website. To my disappointment, there wasn't one. I like to peruse a company's website to kind of get a feel for them. I did not let that discourage me so I contacted them anyway. Right from the beginning, I felt at ease. We called at a time which I would consider "after hours" but the phone was answered nonetheless. I spoke with Shannon who not only had an amazing amount of knowledge of the a/c business, but also of the trials and tribulations the average consumer has to go through with those other "contactors" (if you want to call them that). She knew all too well how difficult it is to find a GOOD contractor, especially with us being out of State owners.
The inspection was performed this morning and we were prepared for the worst, but hoped for the best. After the inspection was finished, Justin contacted me right away to explain exactly what he found but more importantly what he did NOT find. He did NOT find a huge build up of dirt on the coils in the unit in the attic. In fact, he found that the panel on the unit had a slight layer of dust that had not been disturbed. This means the previous company never took the panel off, which means they never even saw the coils and that picture that was shown to our tenants was not a picture of OUR equipment. This is disturbing on so many levels. And, Justin had no problem putting that in writing.
Sure, there was a couple of things that needed attention, which was not only understandable but reasonably priced. Justin had the parts to take care of it right then and there which means it did not require a return trip or additional costs.
Being very pleased with the service, I contacted their office to pay for the services and again spoke with a very outgoing, pleasant gentleman (I didn't catch his name).
We definitely had a very positive experience, so much so that my husband has inquired about additional services from them.
Give them a shot. You will not be disappointed!
