| - Visited on June 9th, 2013 in the afternoon.
I was visiting Cleveland with my girlfriend to meet some of her family. I planned a few side trips for my satisfaction as well, and this was one of them. I am a craft beer nut and a Cleveland local on Beer Advocate recommended them. I checked out the website and decided this was where I would buy some beer to ship back to myself in California.
I immediately found street parking at a meter that still had time on it. It's the small things that make life worthwhile, yes? Entered through the back way and was impressed with the selection of beer not available out west. In short order I rounded up a mini shopping cart and filled it with 36 bottles or so of beer.
When I was rung up, I made sure to suss out all the shipping details. One of the things I needed to make sure of was that they wouldn't ship my order until a little later so I could be back form my trip to receive it. "No problem," they said. "We'll send you an email when it ships."
I relaxed on the patio with a fine draft beer and my g/f had a cider. I went out to the meter to feed it a little more (I hate parking meters) and lo and behold, a guy was pulling away from the space right behind and he still had nearly an hour on the meter. Yeah!!!
Sometimes, it's the little things that make us happiest.
Anyway, we lounged around and talked craft beer a little with the youngish guy who rang me up and poured the beer. He, like I, am a homebrewer so we talked a little about that. Good times.
After I got home, I didn't receive the promised email.
I went to their website and used their contact form to send them a message. A day later, no reply, so I sent an email to them and asked if the order had shipped yet. They wrote me back with no explanation, just tracking numbers. I plugged them into the UPA site and it turns out the boxes had just been shipped. As in, after I sent the email. As in, they forgot to ship them? Looks that way.
So, a potentially 4 star business loses a star for this oversight.
I cannot comment on anything but the draft beer I drank and the bottled beer purchase and shipping. I had no food and didn't examine any of the wine or cheese options.
