I had a heck of a time with another store trying to replace my lost phone. I came in with a claim number and all of my ducks in a row, only to be given the run around and then told that they no longer stock my phone and that the Jones/Flamingo location was the only store in town that has it. My phone is less than 6 months old and I bought it on sale 2 weeks after it came out, when it was the newest and nicest smartphone they had...so it makes no sense that it has been discontinued considering it is a far superior model to almost everything else they have now.
I tell the associate that it is very important that I have my phone for work, and he insists that because of my insurance plan I have to have an exact replacement for the phone I had in the first place. I offered to pay more for an upgraded phone just to get it over with and he says no dice...but he would be happy to offer me a Samsung Transfix - a huge downgrade from my Samsung Indulge. I am not understanding why I can just pay for an upgrade - but he can still offer me a downgrade.
Frustrated, I left and came over to this store.
They supposedly called ahead and asked this store if they had it before they sent me over. Once I got there I was told there were no phones, only batteries. I was pretty upset and honestly ready to just switch to another carrier...then a young woman (I think one of the managers) said not to worry, that they would upgrade my phone to the new Mercury for no additional cost and get me going today. Both she and the other male associate that helped me were so understanding, patient and helpful...I was kind of shocked. It was fantastic to see a little customer service. I had come sort of prepared for another battle and they completely deflated me with their professionalism. haha
All I wanted was my phone back - I absolutely didn't expect an upgrade and it was a very nice bonus. The really great thing though, was that they displayed fantastic customer service...even staying almost 30 minutes past closing time to get me squared away without making me feel unwelcome or uncomfortable.
Everything went smoothly, and now I have my phone back for work!
Thanks guys! I really appreciate it. It might seem like a small thing - but I had a heck of a week. :)
