  • I really liked Dr. Anna Contomirtros-her office is nice, I've never had to wait long and the staff had been nice up until today. I will no longer be a patient of hers. Apparently her office has a new policy that you MUST pay for everything up front even if you have insurance. This started April 1st 2013. I saw her in February and discussed getting an IUD placed. I then ordered the $750 IUD and had to wait for it to be delivered to her office. I got a voicemail in the end of March from Chelsea telling me it had arrived. I called her office in April (and spoke with Tasha) to schedule my appointment and this was the FIRST time they told me about their new policy, and that I'd have to pay $150 up front and I'd get my money back when my insurance pays the claim. I was pissed, like anyone would be, and this was when Tasha went from nice, to a straight B! I was then told that some insurance companies don't pay claims for up to 18 months. She also went on and on about how the doctor shouldn't have to wait 18 months to be paid. My response- not my problem! I asked her how this could be good for a practice because IMHO most people wouldn't want to pay for everything upfront when they have insurance. Tasha told me they have even more patients now then before. I think this policy sucks and they knew this was coming before I decided to get my IUD placed. Was I told ahead of time, of course not. Tasha insists that they didn't know about the change ahead of time. Please, this is a private practice- they knew. The doctor refused to make an exception, and bill my insurance even though this whole process started months before this policy was in place. I just talked to my insurance and the placement is covered 100%, so I shouldn't have to pay anything. I also know how long it takes to get your money back from a doctor's office. So I'll take my business, money and insurance elsewhere and also spread the word. What's the point of having insurance if you have to pay everything up front. This doctor clearly wants some kind of VIP office. Imagine no Medicaid patients ever again. In this day and age who has the money to pay for services in full when they have insurance? It's absurd. There are PLENTY of good OB's in this town, and I'll be going to a different one! EDIT: I now see Dr Comeau. He put the IUD in. I've put a review on yelp previously for Women to Women Gynecology but it seems they made a slight change to their name here- so no older reviews can be seen.
