| - Somebody has incredibly misinformed Keli and the management here at the Wildlife World Zoo. Every time somebody complains about the high prices, this woman writes that they receive no state funds and are a private entity. Guess what - the Phoenix Zoo is a non-profit, charitable organization that has never received any funds from Phoenix or the state of Arizona. If they would read the webpage, they would learn of the incredible struggle it was too build the zoo (build the zoo in '62). The zoo has annual memberships people purchase and also receives tons of donations from all sorts of people to keep it operating.
The Wildlife Zoo is strictly for profit and it's easy to tell because they keep raising prices to make money, but they are not keeping up with the crowds and some of their decisions just are plain dumb.
1. (The Worst) Two ticket windows open as hundreds of people wait in the hot sun to enter. It's like your paying Disney prices, but entering a petting zoo run by some backwoods family in Arkansas. They only have two ticket windows, so no more could be open, but this is biggest joke at this place and it's before you even enter.
2. Safari Train ride only running at half capacity on Sunday. Major staffing issues.
3. CASH only inside - really? The businesses that still do this are the worst, avoiding fees that they get charged, but happily making us pay the ATM fees on that ripoff ATM. Only the greediest and selfish of all owners still use this technique.
Don't pay for any extra's (all the rides are not needed), go on a weekday, eat your meal at Dillon's and if you don't have a 2-1 coupon (mine was from Entertainment book) don't waste your money. That being said, this place had some interesting animals and fish. Most animals were visible and the aquarium, although spread out among several buildings, was a good show. Perhaps in five years when a real company buys this place, it will be more spectator friendly.
