| - This is Illinois' first organic creamery which also happens to specialize in goat's milk products - including cheese, gelato, and yogurt; they also grow other tasty stuff like tomatoes, peaches and other produce. The owners are super friendly, if a bit disorganized, but they make up for this by their enthusiasm and earnestness.
About one weekend a month, they feature a farm-to-table dinner on Saturday night and a brunch on Sunday morning. Chefs from the Chicago area come down and cook, highlighting seasonal produce from the farm and goat's milk products from the creamery.
We had brunch on a beautiful August day. This was a vegetarian meal cooked by the folks at Honey Butter Fried Chicken in Chicago. Kudos to chef Josh and his team for a delicious meal. The meal started with a cheese plate followed by a super fresh farm-greens salad, topped with goat cheese and tossed in a goat-yogurt dressing. The main course was a shaksura inspired baked farm egg in tikka masala with goat cheese, fried-smashed potatoes, fresh na'an, and garam masala aioli. Wow, that was good. Dessert was a sour cream coffee cake with fresh peaches and goat's milk vanilla gelato. Who knew that goat's milk gelato would be so delicious? Other than odd pacing, the meal was outstanding.
Will definitely make plans to eat there again!
