Not sure why it is called a "grill." Grill gives the impression of a laid back atmosphere. Alexi's is anything but. My daughters and I were out and about in downtown Phoenix and wanted Italian. We were tired of the Spaghetti Factory, so we found this place on yelp. We walked in and I was immediately regretting the decision, but the girls were hungry. First of all, the staff are dressed in formal shirts and the table linens are white. The impression is that it is meant for business meals. It is stuffy and not at all welcoming. For lunch, it should be laid back. The food was heavy Italian meals and salads. No kids meal was offered, so my daughter and I shared. We started with Provolone Fritta. It was a little overfried and the sauce was just a bit oversalted. It needed more sauce for the large pieces. We shared the chicken parmigiana. The chicken had a bizarre taste to it, so I didnt eat most of it. The salad before the meal was great though. Great dressing with lots of greens. Could have used more veggies. My other daughter had linguini w marinara. She seemed to like it. All in all, meals to make you sleep. Not family friendly.
