| - I have been driving a Ford for over thirty years. I love Ford vehicles, the Towncar, the Escort, the Escape, the F-150 but the product is not always sold by ethical, honest people. The encounter I had at Surprise Ford was about one of the most disappointing experiences I have had in a long time. I won't share all the details but if you're paying cash for a vehicle and they tell you they need to run a credit check because of the Patriot's Act, just leave. That's a real sign that you're dealing with some unethical people. They asked me if I would just complete the first five lines of the credit application even though I did not need credit. After some discussion my husband and I did as they asked. They said they weren't going to do anything with it, it was just a precaution because of the Patriot's Act. A few minutes later another gentleman came out with a credit report that they had run asking us to sign. By now, though in a daze, I am furious. You cannot unring a bell so all I could do was be furious. At that point we should have left but because we liked the original salesperson and because they had already removed out plates, and the deal wasn't that bad, we continued on. The salesperson said it was probably only a "soft" check so not to worry. I always worry and for good cause. This morning I received an email from Credit Tracker stating that my score had changed. It was lower. That, I blame on Surprise Ford for their unethical practice of checking my credit without my permission. Signing after something has been done does not "give permission". Please do your research prior to purchasing pricy items and know your rights before signing anything. I was foolish and as soon as I calm down, I will stop blaming them and just blame myself. Needless to say, if I ever want to purchase another vehicle, I will not be buying from Surprise Ford.
