I'm rather disappointed in this restaurant....I'd been there about two years ago and really enjoyed it, but this time, the menu seemed different and I think the prices had gone up. I had a petit filet mignon ($29) and my guest had a tenderloin ($22). We each had a twice baked potato. My guest was flabbergasted by the price of the house wine - $11. Seriously? It came in a small carafe and definitely wasn't worth $11. Neither of us had dessert or a salad.or anything else, other than the bread included with the meal.
Even with a $25 off coupon, the total bill came to $53 for basically a steak and a potato. The twice baked potatoes are very big, but still......we felt ripped off. The steaks were more or less tender, but had little flavor. I was really disappointed because I had told my guest that I was really happy with this place, from my last experience here. But we both felt unhappy with the prices and the food. Service was very good, so no complaints there. This is a lovely, low key locals steakhouse with a lot of potential, but charging prices that are out of line with the location and the local clientele is a sure way to lose business. I would be willing to try Austins one more time and hopefully I can like it again!
