We had an appointment with the hand doctor (Dr. Reece) as a follow-up to a hand surgery on my husband at Banner Desert Hospital last week. We had a noon appointment to have his staples removed from his incision.
We had already downloaded and filled out the 14 page forms for new patients and arrived at the office at 11:40am for our NOON appointment. There were 52 patients waiting in the waiting room when we arrived (I counted). We were told that the doctor had been running late but was now caught up. This turned out to be irrelevant because we never saw a doctor. At 1:10pm we were called back to the exam room and young physician's assistant (PA) popped in, looked at my husband's wrist, and took out his staples and covered the wound with steristrips. The hand surgeon physician never saw my husband before surgery to asses his wrist and never saw him in follow-up in the hospital and never saw him in the office for follow-up--all this was done by PAs. This "doctor" does not seem interested in developing a physician-patient relationship, he appears to be merely a surgical mechanic that does not want to be bothered by those pesky patients.
The check out process was yet another 15 minute wait with a line of people in pain that just wanted out of this place. We did not make any further follow-up appointments and would never recommend this office and it's "CATTLE CALL" approach to patient care.
